I bought this dress on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the quality.Quality Overall
The bodice/top is a separate piece from the skirt with corset back lacing. It has some minor plastic boning to keep it straight although I had issues with the foam breast cups making it look odd, but those were very easy to remove by tearing some stitching inside and pulling them out. I do find the bodice sits a little high on me and the neckline is higher than I'd like, but that might be a sizing issue (will touch on sizing later). There are little golden roses (metal or very hard plastic) securely attached where the white ribbon (also securely sewn down) crosses. It's really beautiful. There is a slight charring on the bottom of the gold ribbon used to make the bow at the front bottom of the bodice, likely from holding it near a heat source to make sure it doesn't fray. Somebody just held it a little too close but it's an easy fix to trim off that very small bit and reheat it.
The skirt, as I said, is a separate piece. It has a zipper at the back and a mixed elastic at the sizes and smooth fabric at the front to help it fit. I really love the shimmery pink tulle overlay over the solid pink skirt. It isn't as fluffy as the picture (which has a hoop skirt under it) but it is still poofy from layers of tulle. I bought a cheap petticoat off amazon to puff it out a little more and I'm happy with it.
As a whole, the fabric and stitching are comfortable and don't set off any sensory issues I have with cheap customs and fabrics. Given the price I bought it for ($208cad on sale with a total of $235cad with shipping), I don't think I could make it by hand for less.
As for sizing, I'm usually a US Medium and dress size 8. I bought an XL but I should have gotten an XXL (I made it work instead of trying to exchange it since the convention is a month away.) It has some give since the skirt has some elastic in it and the back of the top is corset laced so sizing isn't as exact as it could be, but if you border between sizes like I do, I'd definitely go for a size up.
